Our race is at 8:30 AM on Friday the 24th. Take a look at the schedule on SCCA.com under the National Championship Runoffs. Just drop me a PM if you are coming out.

I don't get adrenaline (it went away for me once I got comfortable at the limits), now it is just plain fun. The most fun.

The S2k is an ideal car to track - it is really easy on parts (vs a bigger, faster car) and is a blast on the track. I've run the car double session (back-back at Lime Rock) and the only issue was running out of gas in the last session, and cracking a rotor about 30min after the final hot) session of the day at Watkins Glen. The only upgrades that I'd suggest (springs, maybe shocks, sway, and tires) are really easy and make the car faster and more enjoyable.

It is an ideal track car, which is the only reason I bought the car. I couldn't imagine owning one and not tracking/auto-x. That is when the car comes alive. Otherwise it like a platonic relationship with a hot chick.
Enjoy!!!

MVP tracktime will be at Road America in Oct. I have run with them once and highly recommend driving with them there.

If they provide an instructor (I am sure that they do) make sure you get one. They will be full of helpful advice! It is a pretty cheap cost compared to most organizations for RA too!

Thanks for the kind words about MVP Track Time. I'll second, third, etc. any positive notes about track days (HPDE, lapping, etc.) as well worth the money and couldn't agree more the S2000 is one of the best cars for track days. With the possible exception of 911 and M3 drivers, we see more S2K then any other car at our events.

If the Milwaukee Mile doesn't thrill you, look for a track event on a natural road course. Happy Motoring!

I didn't get to go this weekend mostly because it was such a last minute thing. I realized that I wasn't prepared with the things that I might need at the track. I will for sure get an auto-x in this year yet, I have a friend that wants to do one as well so that helps having a friend along. Eventually I would like to get out on RA, guess I will see how its looking for October with that MVP tracktime group...

That sounds like it would be fun to come and watch, I'm sure I can make it up there to check it out
Looks like you're in the upper midwest. The season is winding down, but we have a calendar of upcoming area track and autox events that I and other members put together at the beginning of every race season. You can find it here: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=545716

Sounds like you are decently far north. I've only driven RA once (spectated a bunch). While it's a ton of fun, the S2000 really shines on a smaller course. Come down to Blackhawk farms along the IL/WI border or Autobahn Country Club in Joliet, IL for other close tracks. It's a bit more of a drive for you but Gingerman raceway in southwestern michigan is another local staple that is great for beginners (tons of run off room).

If you have any questions about the local track/autox scene, let me know or post up in the Upper Midwest forum.

Be careful man,

Once you start, it's hard to stop.
Isn't that toyota's new slogan???

But really, i think that anyone who enjoys driving should go to atleast a feww AX's and at least one or two track days. If anything, it will prepare you for an unexpected event in the real world.

Discamer: The originator of this comment is not responsible for anything in your life. It is not my fault that you will be hooked the molment your first tire touches the tarmac. It is now my fault that this will consume every penny of your money, that you will neglect your girlfriend, that she will leave you, and that you will have no friends outside of racing.

Just something that my legal team put together

Why would you want friends who don't race?

As an instructor... this will be the best $190 you will ever spend. Listen to your instructor and have fun.
