As long as the street tire change sticks, I'm going to pick up wheels for B stock sometime before the tires on my STR wheels go. I'm just hoping the wheel width allowance sticks, too.

When will the official rules for next year be published and at what point do you have confidence that the changes in the fastrack are going to make it to the official rules?
I know that as soon as the rules go official, I'm helping setup a BRZ for C-Stock next year. Camber plates and a good driver should get it real close to an MSR.
I don't think it will. Jadrice has bailed on it, and it wasn't a crap prep car....had MCS's, etc.

Yea, I heard he bailed. However the car will be able to actually get camber next year which will help. And we will have a better idea on what a fast setup is.

It's a wheel diameter allowance, not width, IIRC.

You do recall correctly. The diameter allowance doesn't really help us very much for the s2000.

Do the rules help out the rear of the Twins?
edit: I don't think it does. If it's not modifiable/slottable or adjustable from the factory, it's still not able to gain more camber.

I think the Twins can get closer to the MSR with more front camber but I still have my doubts if it will equal.

That kinda sucks. If the goal is for stock classes to be a good place for people getting started to land, it would be helpful if they didn't have to have an exact wheel width. Wheels are probably the most commonly non-stock part on your average street-driven car and someone starting out isn't going to want to buy and extra set of wheels. Personally, I just want an option other than Alleggeritas.

Then buy CCWs. You can't give an unlimited width without basically forcing everyone to HAVE to buy aftermarket wheels.

The provision was to give people tire options, not wheel options as a goal. Certain "fast" tires don't come in either small or large diameter. Having the +1 / -1 provision allows you to even have an option if you started with 14's or 20's.

Yeah, that makes sense. I've been buying 17" tires so long I forgot how bad it's getting for different sizes.

I agree unlimited width wouldn't be a good idea, but I think it would be a good idea to give maybe +/-1" or .5" just have some leeway. It seems the goal is to make stock classes more welcoming to new drivers and I'd be willing to bet the most common aftermarket part a novice driver shows up with is aftermarket wheels. As far as forcing the competitive guys to buy aftermarket wheels, I think it would be better to make someone who is already invested in the sport pay a couple hundred dollars to stay competitive than to force a bunch of new drivers into a class where they are not going to be competitive, get discouraged, and possibly quit the sport, just because their rear wheels are 9" wide instead of 8.5".

Run STR then. Or local chapters have the option of allowing some leeway. Or the new driver can pick up a cheap OEM set of wheels.

The wheels that "competitive people" would get would be $300-400 per wheel or higher. And everyone would have to have to have them if you allowed 1" greater than stock. Who wouldn't buy that? So again, if someone random shows up with aftermarket wheels either steer them to STR (probably due to random offset as well) or just let it slide until they get hooked and good.
