Default Interpretation of wear patterns

I have a set of Victoracers on my S2000, and have used them for 4 events - total of a couple dozen runs at about 35 seconds each. I'm seeing a ridge of tread each side of the exterior tread blocks. This is more pronounced on the rears. I started running about 40 psi cold, and have bled them down to 32 front and 35 rear.

Is this wear pattern trying to tell me something about my tire pressure?

I'd suppose the really fast drivers wear tires out faster, but I've just erased the shallow grooves of the exterior tread blocks.

Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated.

I don't understand your description of the wear pattern. Pics?

I'm thinking it's the edge of the outer block being feathered due to lateral movement (slip) but pictures would help verify.

Your pressures are fine (as long as they're not still starting at 40).

I agree. The wear pattern described is normal when slip is involved as all four of my tires have some degree of feathering, however the rears are more pronounced. My setup may differ from yours, but as a comparison here's my approach on our home course.

- MY01 on stock suspension
- Comptech Gen-2 front sway bar at 102% setting (middle)
- 225F/245R Victoracers at 32-33 psi front, 28-30 psi (depending on track layout)
- UK OEM alignment spec

My tires experience much of the wear on the middle to the edge of the tires and in another event or two, I'll need to take the wheels in to have the tires flipped.

Actually, faster drivers don't wear tires out that quickly, because they tend not to exceed the tires' effective slip angle as often as a less experienced driver.

It sounds like things are OK.

I'll post some pictures when I can - I think I need to be a member to post, and the membership feature of this site is "down for repair."

The point about faster drivers and less slip is a good one. I've been oversteering quite a bit since I put the Victoracers on - I haven't upgraded the anti-sway bar yet. That is probably why the rears are showing more of this wear pattern than the fronts.

Oh, you'll wear out the rears first in any event. You probably just have more wear on the rears so the feathering (if that's what it is) is more pronounced...
