I can help out with any crap you might need as I'm just finnishing a 2 year build of an IT-S FC Rx7 that I did pretty much everything in the build myself at home. The rules in all of IT will cross over.

I too got really kinda angry at the heater core rule. Its out of the car now, and Im hoping to pass tech without it, but Its going in the trailer should they give me a hard time about it. If so I will just bolt the core itself along with the hoses to the floor inside the dash.

Be carefull with your shock selection...this may be a touchy subject in ITR as (the best of my knowledge) all remote reservoir shocks are outlawed in IT. (i Had an ex-motorola cup Miata running ITS that they made me replace the Penske remotes I had because of this rule)....but now the s2000 has remote reservoir shocks stock in the rear, so that might change things up a bit.

As for the ECU you need to keep everything fitting inside the original case...you dont need to keep the original ECU, so lots of guys replace them with motecs and mount them inside gutted cases.

For those of you in SFR (Rylan and crashtest): I've just been told that as of right now, SFR won't be offering ITR in '07. This really bugs me as I already have a lot of time and money invested in a car specifically for this new class.

There is a meeting of the region board on 1/27 and it's on their agenda to discuss this (and all of the other new classes).

Please write a letter to the region board (via scca@thunderhill.com -- it'll get forwarded) and ask for ITR to be its own class in 2007. I also asked that it goes into group 5 with the other IT classes, instead of into the group 1 catch-all. Otherwise we'll all be also-rans in ITE, and I will be forced go to a different club.

And crashtest: you can't strip the wiring in IT. I'm not even sure I agree with Jeremy that you can remove the airbag and radio-related wiring, though I'll admit that's it's gray for those two items. I'm leaving all of mine in, especially since I'll probably need to ballast the car up anyway.

yeah shot an email to board-directors@sfrscca.org. Tho I'm not running ITR.

anything to help. Also you should race in group 5 so that if you want a second race (like the ITS guys) you can still race in ITE too.

Removing the ABS in the s2k isn't a big deal but in some of the other makes in ITR it becomes a bigger problem.
With some cars the ABS also essentially controls the brake bias. So if you lose ABS, the brake bias gets really screwed up. I know a guy who put his M3 into a wall due to this issue.

it does on the s2k too. But you just need a valve and some test time to get it sorted.

Sorry, faulty memory.

Radio & antenna = yes, radio wires = no

Airbag system = yes (not much of a system without the wires to connect it).
"Air bag systems shall be disarmed and may be removed."

Well, there's a new clarification in the January fastrack adding that same sort of wording to radios: "Audio systems may be removed in their entirety." So if you accept that "systems" include wiring (definitely could be argued), then you are good. Now you can even remove amps and speakers, which until this month, had to remain in place.

But you definitely can't remove other wiring.

Digging this up from the dead.

Anybody looked seriously at what type of power could be made in IT legal trim? (0.040 over, header, intake, ecu, 1" head porting) What type of overbore is even possible with the stock sleeves?

I still really want to do one of these but there's no way I can afford it.
