I'm not sure exactly which sensor you guys are talking about, but I believe all of the sensor threads are 1/8 BSPT, not NPT. While a NPT threaded sensor will screw in, you are running a significant risk of that thread failing in the future.

I have the same issue (sending unit blowing) and I think I will mount the sending unit to the frame then run a line from the sandwich plate to the sender as Krazik said. Well, one of these days I will......

Running a line and mounting the sensor to the frame is the best way. If you are running the signal to the ecu you need to have a stainless sensor, the brass pressure sensors are built much cheaper and for something going into an ecu for engine protection, spend the extra $ on a good quality sensor.
I would advise against having the ecu kill the engine if the oil pressure drops.. like you said, if that happens in the wrong spot it could be bad for not only you but others on the track behind you!
Aem's protection has a oil pressure vs rpm table that will trigger the CEL if the oil pressure goes blow that threshold. Not sure how the haltech protections work.

I am having problems finding the right sensor. Innovate never responds to my email and the sensor they ship doesn't have any markings on it that help you find a replacement. I believe it is a 33-240ohm +5v sensor, which is what I just ordered. I had a 0-180 ohms +5v sensor but it reads wrong, 100 psi when it should be 0 psi.
Do you have any idea what is a good sensor? I've just been looking at eBay mostly.
