Koni Sport spring question
'00 with Koni Sports and stock springs are not cutting it any longer! I knew that coilovers would be the way to go but not enough info and or money at the time.
I have the BIG Mugen FSB, stock rear bar, front lower ball joint, running -3.0. I need a spring to use until the Ohlins DFV get more readily available. I need something before the next event mid June.
I am looking for a spring rate that will compliment the Konis, not be so stiff that driving to the track is brutal. I am being directed toward Ground Control coil over kit as an in between, but that is wasting too much money knowing that the coilovers are coming soon.
Eibach, H&R, Sprint have OEM replacement spring kits but not knowing what the spring rates are offered is the question.
Anyone have a suggestion with experience? If you have a set laying around from upgrades and you want to get rid of...???? let me know.
Thanks!

If ohlins has the parts in stock they take about 2 weeks. Go with the Swift Spec R's. IMHO i would stick with the Koni's. get them revalved and then go out and purchase your desired spring rates. You can always get the Koni's to be converted to double adjustables. get spring perches and coil over sleeves. are you doing autocross or track?
I posted Sprint and meant Swift, do you know the spring rates?
Mainly track, local track is Barber and Little Tally. AX on occasion.
So the coil over kits from Ground Control or Koni are comparable to Ohlin, KW or if I got lucky Penske? I like to know that someone with more time than I, has done the testing and is why I am leaning toward the DFV. Buy it install, enjoy....if you need re-valved or re-sprung it can be done but with the baseline established.

If your a casual track driver with little knowledge or drive to learn setup(dont take that as dirogitory) the koni's and swift spring will suit you just fine they will give you adiquite control with faster response times than stock while holding geometry better than stock.
Once you've driven on them for awhile and feel your very comfortable and want to tackle the world of alignments, cross weights, spring rate, high/low speed damper curves etc the Higher end stuff will be lost and in most cases make you slower if not set properly.
The DFV's would be a good way to get into the higher end market as they are designed for the street and have a single adjustment, however Im not sure the fun/gain per dollar is worth it. If you can get 80% of what you want for 1/10 the cost I would go that route. Anything double adjustable can go way wrong real quick.
Remember even with a top level driver, and ALL other things being equal the difference between koni/gc and ohlins DFV is at most 1-2 seconds if that.
check out the G and laptime difference between this car towards the bottom...

Bang for buck handling improvement using what I have and resell is the focus, not the fastest lap times, not racing just enjoying the hobby!
I am not a suspension pro, but do understand from years of riding and racing bikes, AX and track days, how compression and rebound effects handling dynamics in a basic sense. Quality products are typically better engineered and have a support / R&D baseline that I don't mind investing in, timing and availability have me looking for a compromised solution.
The Konis I have, and from what Has been recommended, changing the springs to Swift Spec R is a more economical and a substantial enough improvement to notice and get by until the next step becomes available.
Ground Control set approx. 450.00-700.00, Swift springs 325.00. The reviews and comments at my price point of 2500.00 for coil overs indicate Ohlins over KW -v3 out of the box, with Ohlins being supported better, with better build quality.
Thanks for the help, what else am I missing?
