Then KW shouldn't advertise that they are ride height independent. Oh well, that sucks

KW has a "new" clubsport valving and shock which Robispec and KW have done well at the track with. Still testing but nice ride, faster than stock times, @ real world ride heights. Yes I Bought a S2K to work with like "my" Evos...and have a full setup that seams to get positive reports about being easy to drive while fast as all getout

Shock, you're just plain wrong. You need a set in hand. They work nothing like that. The only way to adjust height on these coilovers is by moving the spring perch. The allen screw you see their is the set screw that keeps the lower perch from moving. There simply isn't any other way of adjusting ride height. The entire shock body doesn't rotate like other coilovers.

Read over some of the other kw-v3 posts. It's a well accepted fact that you can't adjust ride height with these coilovers without affecting preload. The only reason I was confused in the beginning was because I didn't realize that the top perch was fixed due to the way that you reuse the stock top hats.
I have V3's on my car, and I agree that adjusting ride height affects spring pre-load. When I installed the coilovers, I didn't want to lower the car too much compared to stock, so I ended up cranking up the preload on the front springs a lot.

Here's my settings from last year and what I plan for this year:

Last year: 225/255 Nitto NT01's and gendron solid FSB set to third hole from full stiff.

Front
Bump 0.5 turn from full stiff
Rebound 1.0 turn from full stiff

Rear
Bump 0.5 turn from full stiff
Rebound 1.5 turns from full stiff

This year: 255 Nitto NT01 non-stagger, gendron solid FSB set to third hole from full stiff, APR GTC-200 wing set to 5-10 degrees of AOA.

Front
Bump 0.5 to 0.75 turn from full stiff
Rebound 1.0 turn from full stiff

Rear
Bump 1.0 - 1.5 turns from full stiff
Rebound 2.0 - 2.5 turns from full stiff

I won't have a chance to test out this year's setup until April 7th at Summit Point Shenandoah or possibly March 29-30 at VIR (possible autoX event instead of track day at VIR).

EDIT: This is with the new "clicking" system.

Thanks for clearing that up. I have just one more question. Does moving the spring perch higher and increasing preload raise the height or lower it? I would assume it would raise it a bit as the overall length of the assembly doesn't change and you're increasing the amount of weight that needs to be applied to the spring in order for it to further compress. Is this correct?

You are correct. Moving the spring perch higher (thereby increasing the preload) raises the ride height.

Awesome. Having a full and clear understanding prior to installation makes me feel a lot better!

can someone explain kw's recommended compression settings to me? it says turn it 0,75 turns from full stiff, what does that mean?

also on their instructions it says you can make 4, 1/2 turns for compression, but i count 9 turns, whats going on here???

sure the compression valve has 2 full turns or 720 degrees of adjustability ,75 means 3/4 of a full turn counter clockwise from the valve closed position (clockwise= closing the valve "righty tighty") looking at it from below on the compression and above on the rebound. the rebound valve has 3 full rotations available for adjustment
