Laguna Updates?
Glad I could help.
You have me confused, because up above you say,
But here you say something different.
[QUOTE=ole p car,Oct 9 2008, 01:48 PM]because in its not a matter of acceleration of the drum, its a matter of the rate of change of its kinetic energy. (i.e. 1/2mv^2 ) .
You have me confused, because up above you say,
it is ONLY measuring rate of acceleration, or the rate of change of kinetic energy.

rylan,
Where is that example dyno you posted of a S2000 like yours with a blower, (but less hp, something in the 360rwhp range) I was asked some questions from the 928 blower guys about how much power you guys made.

I admit I don't know a great deal about how dynos works, so if you could explain.

So, HP is the rate of change of kinetic energy.
The drum on a dyno acellerates when driven by your car's drive wheels. Torque would be found at just the acceleration rate for any change of speed. So, if you had a constant torque, the drum would accelerate at a constant rate. HP would be rising in that event. True, in 1st gear you have the most rear wheel torque. but, because velocity, speed, RPM goes up, for the same amount of torque, higher speed, rpm , velocity will give highe hp values.
Anyway, a dyno, by knowing its drums mass and size, for any rate of change of speed, it can directly give a power value. this will be regardless of gearing, tire diameter or tire growth on the dyno. Again, this is why when the dyno is missing a rpm signal, you still get HP values, vs MPH because the computer knows the speed of the drum. what you will never know is engine torque, which would be calculated by the engine rpm values.
I hope I was a little more clear here. Its late and it probably sounds like jibberish.

Are you referring to thrust? If so, we have none. Our tranny has toasted synchros in 1st and 2nd. We'll have to start in third and pray for a 200mph tailwind.

I dont understand your comment. Was it directed at me, and if so, what are you saying or asking?
