Here is the only possible solution Mark:

Probably not the best solution for the trunklid, but what about making swiss cheese out of other areas that don't need as much reinforcement? I would imagine doing something like this to the trunk lid wouldn't be a wise solution though.

it really depends on what wing you have. for my j's or any voltex wing that mounts on the farthest points of the trunk, i would be comfortable with cutting out all of the middle section bracing to basically get the skin because on the sides it is rolled so its pretty strong. if you have a wing that mounts in hte middle like a voltex type 7 then i wouldnt do this for sure.

for your APR 200 - is it mounted on the far sides?

ive never done it though so dont take my word on it lol!

Has anyone actually measured the weight of the lid bracing.

By the looks of it, i would guess that this is the heaviest part and not the actual lid.

On another note, i have lifted the carbon trunk with the wing on it and, as you said, is not that much lighter at all.

+1 on the thought of getting a wing attached to the chassis thus being able to shave the bracing = less weight.

I'll take 2 at that price

I do like the swiss cheese option, i've seen it done before on the trunk hinges so I will probably go mad with the angle grinder in a few weeks Thanks for the ASM pic on the front too, I hadn't thought of that

Yep mine is mounted on the far sides, which as you say are stronger. There's quite a bit of skin on the inside which can be ground away...

What is the rear diffuser you have in the photo?

Do you like it/notice any difference before and after?

Cost?

Thanks

Password JDM full carbon floor

I've not tried the car without it. Needs better cooling for the GB though.

Back OT!
