Lime Rock SCCA NARRC Runoffs
Raced at Lime Rock this past weekend at the SCCA North Atlantic Road Racing Championship (NARRC) runoffs. The NARRC is a regional racing series in the Northeast. I raced the S2000 in EP and my son raced it in SPU (super production under 2.5 liter). I started 2nd overall, with a BMW 325 (also in EP) starting 1st. At the start the BMW got the jump on me (tough to compete with a torquey 6 cylinder in a drag race) and in turn one an MGB got by as I was behind the BMW. The 3 of us stuck together and about 15 laps in I put the MG in my mirrors. With 5 laps to go (out of 30 total) I got by the BMW and stayed out front for the win. I had the fastest laps of the race and got down to 1:00.4, a personal best at LRP.
My son, who just earned his SCCA regional license earlier this month, started 12th over all in a mixed group with ITA cars. He made his way through the field and finished 4th overall and had the fastest lap at 1:01.39.
The official NARRC points have not been posted yet, but both my son and I should have won the Championships in EP and SPU. Not bad for our first season with the S2000.

Thanks. What he would really like to do is to have him race the S2000 in EP and me race my Triumph TR3 in EP, so we can compete against each other. On short tracks like Lime Rock or New Hampshire the TR3 would be competitive. At long tracks like Watkins Glen or Pocono we think the S2000 would be much faster with the long straights.
