Default Losing the key

Looking to get rid of the key, and ignition junk on my steering column and going to a toggle swith starter. Anyone run into any electrical grimlens while doing that? I had a nightmare on my last race car (E36 M3) when I got rid of the key. Had to get a chip for the ECU and jump the starter.....all because of anti theft immobilization crap. So, will I run into the same thing with the S?

From my website: "Build an S2000 Racecar"

If you are like me and running the stock ECU then you have to keep the ignition switch and key because the car's demobilizer will keep the car from running if it doesn't sense the correct key in the ignition. If you have an aftermarket ECU you can completely remove the ignition switch. If you do this you can use the kill switch to power on the car, use the start switch to start it and the kill switch to shut it down.

With an aftermarket ECU you can bypass the ignition switch by building a pigtail like the one in the picture above. Cut the large wires on the ignition switch and follow them to their connector, disconnect it and remove the harness. Solder the wires into two connections: White, Black/Yellow and Orange together; and White/Black, White/Red and Black/Red together. Plug this pigtail back in and it's just like the key is turned to run. The starter button is ready for use. You can disable the car by removing the pigtail. I want to thank s2ki's Strat for the picture above and the info in this paragraph.

Great info, thank you! I learned the hard way to ask before cutting.

Now I have a new question to ponder.... I have a Greddy "piggy back" ECU (bought the car this way). Wonder if that will bypass the immobilizer?

the greddy EMU will not solve your problem.

Burn that "piggy back" with fire, you'll think me later

The greddy was on it when I bought it. It does make some pretty descent numbers on a "fake" hub dyno, 241 at the hub???? I'm guessing that's 215 at the wheel on a real dyno. Anyway, just something else to add to the list to do.......switch out EMU. So any suggestions? What EMU should I go with?

Depends on who tuned that Greddy EMU. Not many people know how to work with it or even connect it correctly. The only person I know who was a master at it is Giles from Holy Roller Dyno but he has long since retired.

If you do end up going full stand-alone, I would recommend just using one of the battery disconnect switches that has a removable key.
