Main hoop mounting points
In my searching looking at roll cages, I notice lots of different approaches. I am looking to make a roll bar at the moment and next winter possibly add on for a full cage. I was wondering what are people's opinion on mounting points. For a cage the main hoop has to come all the way down vs just a standard roll bar that sits on the shelf?
Here are some links since I can't post pictures.

Duckman, here's a few pics of how my builder landed the main hoop and routed the lower NASCAR door bar. Pics were taken at various stages in fabrication. He cut out a floor pocket and welded in reinforcing plates where the main hoop lands. He tacked the lower door bar to the door jamb, while the upper door bar penetrated the top of the jamb to tie into the main hoop.
Completed cage during paint

Driver side main hoop.

Floor "pocket" cut to land driver side main hoop.

Passenger side floor pocket with reinforcing plates and main hoop/diagonal. Driver side similar.

Lower NASCAR door bar fitted, just touches the lower door jamb (later it gets tack welded to the jamb). Upper door bar (not shown) penetrates the upper door jamb above the VIN sticker.

Look at my gallery to see some pics of how he gutted the A-pillar and fit the front hoop inside for fantastic footwell space (and eliminating a T-bone ankle-snapper).

Phil Munoz built mine, and talked frequently with Shad at Driving Ambition. Shad actually tuned mine once Phil got done building it (including Haltech ECU). These are awesome folks to have work on your car!
