Maintaining 968 vs. S2k
Just wondering if the maintenance costs on a porsche 968 would be significantly higher than the costs of an s2000 (let's just assume mileage and age to be the same, even though that's not really possible)
Thanks for any feedback

Thanks for the info. I'll check with those guys. There is a gorgeous arctic white '94 at 5th gear motorsports near my house-listed at 11,900.00 with about 130,000 miles on it. 12k of car debt sounds a lot better than 23k, but I've got to see what certain things might cost. Not to mention finance options, which I'm sure will be more limited. Insurance would be cheaper, though. Thanks again.
I've owned two 968s.
The S2000 will be cheaper to maintain. Your basic premise doesn't hold -- the newest 968s are 11 years old, while the oldest S2000s are 6. On top of that, the S2000's a Honda.
I never had a major mechanical failure with either 968, but both had little electrical things go wrong every once and a while. Nothing catastrophic or particularly expensive, but after a while it started to add up. Also, Porsche parts tend to be pricier than equivalent Honda parts. Front rotors for my M030 968 were a few hundred bucks each!
Having said that, while the 968 costs more to maintain, it's not outrageous -- a grand a year or so should be plenty as long as you buy a well-maintained example.
I suggest driving the cars and deciding based on that. They're both great cars, but in different ways; if you really want the 968, you'll find a way to cover the maintenance.
