Max S2000 towing distance?
I was wondering how far you all would be willing to tow your tire trailer with the S. I am thinking about attending an autoX about 500 miles away and was just curious if that might be too far to tow the trailer with the S. Any input would be appreciated.
BTW, it's one of the harbor freight light duty utility trailers with the 12" tires.

I've towed my wheel/tool trailer (Southsport) over 500 miles each way to Pahrump and to Thunderhill from San Diego multiple times, crossing some elevations too.
edit: I don't think the car is a problem, but I don't know how your trailer would hold up. My Southsport is very sturdy and not a home-assembled trailer.

I recommend having a spare tire for the trailer. Also spare bulbs for the trailer taillights. And be sure to check the trailer wheel bearings often. I check them every time I stop.

I towed mine to Thunderhill 700 miles each way. (So there!) (Only once so far, though.)

From Seattle you have to go over the Siskiyus.

Yeah but the weather was probably cool compared to my treks to Pahrump and Thill in summer

Yeah, no problem. I've been to San Diego and back with the same trailer and 3 different cars (2 Miatas and the S2000) about 5 times. I did crack a trailer spring on the way down this time, fortunately only about 20 miles out. Fortunately my equipment bin hangs down below the trailer frame and sat on the axle rather than allowing the frame to drop down lower. As it was the tire on that side dragged on the fender and melted off a lot of rubber as well as the paint directly above the contact spot.
I am pretty sure that the crack was due to removing the short "helper" leaf to get a smoother ride back when the trailer was lighter. I rigged up some clamps and repaired the trailer in San Diego, and made it home.
Then I got a flat on my way home from Atwater last weekend...on the "good" tire. Fortunately I had a spare. That does remind me that I need to check out the flat tire and see what's wrong with it.
