I towed my HF trailer with 12" tires to Walnut Ridge and back(800 mi) and Topeka and back(600mi) last year without issue, I wouldnt worry about it. I did pack the bearings myself when I got the trailer, but they held up fine.

I am thinking about attending an autoX about 500 miles away and was just curious if that might be too far to tow the trailer with the S.
No sweat, especially with 12 inch tires. Just double check the bearing grease and tire pressure before you start. If it's a bolt together (vs. welded) trailer frame, you should check the bolts occasionally anyway. They have been known to work loose.

in CA the signs indicate a lower speed limit for vehicles with trailers. In WA the signs just say the lower speed limit is for "trucks", but my dad tells me it also applies to trailers.
I'm sure every state varies, but in Texas, trailer speed limits and no trailer lanes only apply to trailers being towed by trucks. And "truck" means big. A pickup up to 1 ton is a "light truck" which is not a "truck" under Texas vehicle code.

Not the case in CA. Like you say, varies state by state.

Detroit to Petaluma, CA via Albuquerque. The only problems were in AZ, with a wicked headwind, hail, snow - I could only manage 85 uphill against the wind

The box is 4x6x2.5 - fits 2 sets of wheels, jack, stands, tools, airtank, cooler

Out to Topeka and back 2x with this, too.

In California the signs explicitly state
TRUCKS
AUTOS WITH TRAILERS
SPEED LIMIT
55 MPH
I'm pretty sure that is a statewide speed limit, whether posted or not. Even on 70MPH or 75MPH freeways, it is still 55MPH for towing.

Thank you very much for all the great feedback. I need to fix the lights on the trailer.

And Brian, I might, I might not! If I do decide to make the trip, I want to surprise the SCR guys! I am just trying to decide if I want to just not hassle with the trailer and woop on Garrett, or bring the R comps and try for a top 10 time and woop on Nick. That is... if I were planning to attend this weekend!
