Default Metallic flakes

I just changed my oil earlier today and after I poured out all my oil. At the bottom of the container had very tiny metallic specs. It can only be seen in direct sunlight. Is this normal? I was running motul 10w40 with about 3k miles and 3 track events. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Use snips and cut your filter open to see if there is any more evidence. Also run the oil through a paint strainer. If any of the pieces are large enough see if they can be picked up with a magnet. This will narrow down what type of metal it is. Regardless i would keep a close ear on the engine and do another oil change in 1k miles and recheck to be safe.

might be worth getting a company like blackstone labs or similar to run an oil analysis.
