Default More fun, BS or STR?

Is a S2000 more fun to drive set up for BS or STR? I am looking for a S2000 to use for DD and autocrossing. I am trying to figure out which set up would be more fun. I have been autocrossing for 12 years and have owned / driven a variety of cars with different set ups.

Depends on your definition of fun. For me I like the challenge of searching for a great chassis setup. Most of my fun is trying different things and finding good and bad results of tuning. Stock class is very limited in this regard as it is very hard to get the setup wrong. In STR you cam definitly get the setup wrong and have a car that performs worse than stock.

Depends on what your fun is.

I love driving pretty much anything with wheels. 500 hp turbo S2000, stock Miata, whatever.

The part I love about National competition is... the competition. From that aspect, having a car that won't break and that I don't have to tweak (much) is more fun to me.

From that perspective, I prefer B-stock to STR.
I'd prefer completely spec classes where it's more driver than car.
BS S2000s are about as close as you can get these days.

Lol, my post was completely opposite from the first response to the thread... highlighting the variability in personal preference.

Both classes are ridiculously fun from a driving perspective. Softer springs on grippier tires or stiffer springs, less grippy tires and more power. Like Charles said, pick your poison. Any class is heavily driver intensive. It's just that with stock class, it is much easier to eliminate setup from your line of excuses for losing.

I enjoy more power, setting up the car like I want and less grip. There's a ton of people running STR too.

STR setups are more fun to drive, hands-down. How much you like to tinker, what type of competition you prefer, and how much time/money you want to put into the car are another story. Strictly for driving fun, it's STR all the way. (IMO, of course)

Which is more fun as a DD? That depends. Your spring-rate:local-road-bumpiness ratio has a lot to do with it.

lol, they really should start a federal program that monitors and posts local-road-bumpiness ratios so I can find a good place to live.

That being said, I like STR. Tuning the car to my liking is fun. And the tire cost is far lower. S2000's have some annoying quirks too, the rev limiter thing on AP2s would drive me buggy in B stock, I can just fix it in STR.

my local SCCA solo events have 1-2 guys in BS, STR has at least 6.

also the STR guys tend to have the best scores of the day excluding the guys in Mod classes or shifter carts.

this all equates to fun competition between STR drivers.
