If you are new to the sport, and want to learn to be a driver first, go for BS, you will learn better focusing on just the nut behind the wheel.

If you want the best all around car, street car/race car, build an STR S2000.

I have owned/raced 3 S2000's (Stock 04, stock 07, and now STR 08), and the STR 08 is by far my favorite, to drive and race, and I drive mine everyday. The power alone makes it so much better than stock, the sound is a very close 2nd, my car with the STR mods sounds incredible. My car rides better than stock, handles better than stock, and accellerates harder than stock, and top it off with some serious competition.

Just my .02

Do you wanna go fast or look fast?

I like STR because I like modding my car and bstock is way to restricted. Modding my car keeps me interested. I also like the fact of having a bunch of people to run against.

If I had a flag ship CR delete I'd most likely run B-Stock since the at seems to do really well. Any other s2k I'd go STR.

Funny, in my region (NER) there is a good amount amount of BS participation, (a few corvettes, solstices and s2000's) and little STR participation (1 or 2 miatas?). I agree that most regions will have STR as more popular, and for good reason... but it is region dependent. Look no further than the DC Pro Registration. B Stock is the largest class at the event (16 entries.) It was as high as 18 until a few people dropped out.

I currently DD an Integra that is set up for STC. Stiff springs don't bother me. I think that I will probably aim for STR. Thanks for all the information.

I hate to throw a wrench in things, but i believe there should be a third choice (for now) Road Tire Stock? That is where my vote goes. It combines many of the pro's for both BS and STR and may be the best compromise. If people want this to stick around then then need to show support this year with entries.

I was thinking of saying the same thing (I'm hoping to run Road Tire R all year now that it's been confirmed as a class for both Nationals and the Pro Finale), but I think RTR will be the worst of both worlds when it comes to *on-course* fun: the same soft suspension and lack of power as Stock cars, combined with even less grip than STR (since we have to run stock rim widths).

The picture for overall fun is a bit different, though, if you factor in the effect of sleeping in a half hour later, not having to tow a trailer or change tires, and saving a ton of money relative to either BS or STR. Viewed in that light, RTR is quite attractive.

Add me to the B stock on street tires votes. I have been running street tires on a B stock S2000 for over 2 years. I am having just as much fun as I did on R-comps, and not spending near as much money, and it’s easier. What’s not to love?

I find it to be the best of both worlds. The low prep cost of stock with the convenience and low tire cost of ST.
