Default Motons for Stock

I currently have the SOS Moton setup with spherical top hats and springs, which is great for STR, but my plan is to run BS. What is everyone doing for lower spring perches? I've searched and found the threads with mounting and STR related spring posts but nothing on perches. SOS has no recommendation other than to search the forums and "I heard somebody was doing something".

I can design some and have them fabricated but I don't want to go through the trouble if there is an existing solution.

While I'm at it, my interpretation of the rules suggests the spherical top mounts are stock class legal. Is my thinking correct? If I can, is it even possible with the spring perch height requirement?

Thanks for your help.

Thanks, I've sent a message to Jay and hope to hear back soon. Those two are definitely a wealth of information.

What you do is flip over the lower spring perch that is on the Moton so that there is a flat resting area for the stock lower perch to rest on. Take a rubber mallet or hammer if you like, to the stock perch on the stock shock. Smack that bastard on opposite side until if pops off. Slide it down over the Moton body which is only a few mm more narrow than the stock shock body and sit it on the upside down (flat side) perch. Measure the stock shock from center of the clevis bolt hole (mounting fork) to the bottom of the stock spring perch. Match this on the Moton.

Profit.

+1

No need to disturb Jay, he's probably on a beach in Jamaica staring at his SCCA calendar!

This guy's selling a more elegant solution if you're so inclined: https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/874...#entry20660123

Hard to justify even the $300 he's asking if just flipping the collars that come with the shocks works, though.

Here is a pic of an AST setup using the OEM lower perch. I imagine you do the exact same thing for the Motons.

^ +1. For the setup that I was sold, that's what the original owner did.

Awesome, Thanks Matt! and everybody else. This is exactly what I was looking for. Now I just to find a cheap OEM suspension and I'll be ready to go. I don't want to take my stock assembly apart.

Why not? You can easily reassemble it. And you're welcome.
