Actually, that is the same problem I had, had to use a gear puller to get them off (damaged upper spring perch). The shafts were corroded and pitted slightly. They are on their way to AST/Moton today, when I reassemble I will difinitely use anti-seize.

Thanks, they are on the way there today.

You know, sometimes it takes time to get parts. I'm sure there is no shortage of parts to fix a Koni Yellow. Now, with a JRZ or Moton, there may be an actual shortage and at least a year ago, you might have to wait for parts to come from Denmark if you had to have a new body or something for your Motons. FWIW, I've always had my Montons serviced in under 4 days by Moton when they were here in Atlanta. Now that Moton has been sold, I'm not sure if the MCS guys here will service them or not.
Unfortunately they don't have parts, I asked Lex last week and he told me send them to James at SRP, but after looking at this thread I'm sending mine to PSI. As much as I would like to get my shocks back by April, I understand it's hard to bank on a quick turnaround especially if you haven't sent them out for service by the end of Dec.
I was told they (AST/Moton) would try to get mine turned around in about 5 days (typical time) or so. Can't ask for more than that.

I had a friend tell me that he dropped his konis off to Lee Grimes on his lunch and before he got to mcdonalds and got done eatting his burger Lee called and said they were done and he could go pick them up. So if Lee can rebuild 4 shocks and dyno them in under a hour I have no freaking clue how it takes weeks apon weeks to rebuild shocks. It's bullshit when I send someone shocks that cost over $7,000 new and plan to spend $1800ish for a rebuild and the person takes 6+ weeks to rebuild them and doesn't answer the phone 99% of the time you call. You would think making $1800 for a couple hours of work people would be modivated to get them done and have amazing customer support. My shocks will be sent to PSI for now on.

Sorry to hear about your shock! I know your pain!
+1 for PSI, great guys there. Gave a cool plug for my nationals STR effort too. Sharp, knowledeable, honest, and no BS, top quality work with quick turnaround.

+1 for PSI
they were swamped with work and were still able to get me in and out in a week.

As far as parts go I've heard the same thing from the guys at PSI about getting parts and how much of pita it is to get parts from JRZ or Moton hopefully the Moton AST thing will help Moton.

The saga continues.....

Alright, so I got the shocks back from AST and I have done the whole assembly thing. Now I'm ready to put them on the car and I realized the shock is shorter once assembled. Is this natural preload? to be expected? or is something wrong?

Also, hardward for the lower arm, didn't get any with the shocks. Do I need to source these myself?

Presumably the Moton shaft length isn't as long as stock. Are they designed for lower ride height?

As for LCA hardware, just reuse your stock bits.

The shock body is 1/2" shorter, so maybe what I am seeing is that 1/2" or so, not sure. Dimensionally, the lower perches are positioned the exact same as OEM per the rules.

The lower nut of the OEM is integrated into the lower bracket. I can use the stock bolt but looks like I'll have to get new nuts.

Rules allow fully extended length to be +/-1" to stock shock, as long at the perch to perch length is the same to ensure stock spring preload then i think you should be good to go. If it does drop the car a little don't forget to realign. A similar thing happend to me when installing my TCK Konis on the stock spring location. Gas charge differences and the slight ride height change affected my toe. I ran a tour event just swapping shocks and I was all over the place, when i eventually got it aligned i found out i had a slight toe out in the back.
