Default Mounting 6point question on right side point

Just bought a seat, a GFL bar and getting my 6-point belt soon.

I understand I should drill the floor and be careful about the fuel lines for the ASM straps. Use the harness bar for the shoulder belts and the for the left lap belt use the stock belt location.

What about the right lap belt? I think I read on here someone mentioning the transmission tunnel as a mount point, but do you have to drop the transmission to get the hardware and a backing plate in there?

Is there an easier location?

I had somebody do it for me, but there is plenty of room. No need to drop anything.

There's no other possible location.

usually there is a mounting point on the seat base for the right side of the lap belt. But if you dont have a mounting point, just mount it to the chassis at the correct angle. I know the sparco website has the correct mounting angles for the lap belts and shoulder belts.

Here is the PDF from sparco: http://www.sparcousa.com/resourceFiles/16.pdf

Thanks guys, I just took at a look at my rails and the right side does have a mounting point that corresponds to the stock mounting point.

lift the car so you can see where you'll be drilling - you're looking for enough space on the tunnel wall for the backing steel plate. drill from inside being careful not to hit the shaft on the other side (about 2 inches away)

a dremel made the shaping of the hole much easier.

You can use both the right and left side bolts, you just need a backing plate on the right side. If you got a Schroth harness the plate comes with.

Where are you drilling the ASM holes in relation to the stock seat's front bolt holes? Can you not reuse those holes?

ASM straps should actually attach below your butt for a six-point. Nowhere near the front of the seat. For a five-point, the attachment point is supposed to be forward.

With that reasoning, would it be optimal to have both ASM straps run under the seat to one bolt directly under you? Or would two bolts, each at the midpoint and inline with the current front and rear seat bolts, be a better setup?

No, because then they would dual five-points, wouldn't they?

Better than the first idea. Look, just read the mounting location directions from your harness manufacturer. They will tell you where to mount the anchors.
