Default my weld in half cage build

I decided to bend up and weld in a bigger rollbar. its a lot more heavy duty and looks way better im going to be adding an X brace in between the rear support legs.. but i ran out of tube. ill pick some up this week and finish it up. i figure ill add in the rest of the cage if this car becomes a more serious race car. the car will make it on the track soon.. i had some misfortune with my hardtop this last week so once i get a new one back on ill be at the first event and hopefully everyone after that.

================================================== ====

here is my diagonal and lowered harness bar i made

sprayed it black today.. fits great. i used the same holes that i had drilled from when i had my hardog in the car. this bar should meet all standards for scca rules and guidelines.

materials used..

1.75" .120 wall DOM tubing (more then adequate for scca standards)
cnc plasma cut 3/16 thick steel base plates and backing plates.
mig welded.
grade 8 nuts and bolts

a few things i think i improved are:

-i placed the harness bar in a better position compared to the hardogs rear lowered harness bar.

-the bottom of the diagonal is welded to the base plate, this makes the leg more rigid imo.

-the rear support bars are a little taller then the hardogs. this should give a little more support in the event of a roll over.

I plan to make a backing plate where there would be no need to cut into the wheel well for the roll bar. i have a design.. just need to make it happen. also need a car with wheel wells that are not cut like mine

let me know what you guys think. this is just a temporary bar so i can get the car on the track. I will be doing a welded in half cage this month as long as i can make some time to do so. i prefer the weld in ones. my brothers 240 convertible roll bar came out pretty nice.

I like it looks really nice followed rules nicely looks grerat , you dont have a soft top I take it ? and did you mig or TIG weld it ? either way great piece and safe too . These cars are so easy to cage or bar with no top to dodge like we had to . I cant wait to get rid of my convertible top.

^Mig, it's mild steel not Chomoly. You get better penetration....the welds just never look all that beautiful.

Looks good. I wish there was a way to have a proper rollbar that is still tall enough but far enough back so we could retain a lot of seat travel. It looks like you can move your seat back a little bit but not by much. That looks like a Pole Position which is what I have and I need the furthest forward part of the shoulder wing to be at the very end of the door, almost behind it. I actually don't need it like that but I like the extra legroom.

This pic shows how far back I like my seat to be. I can still drive and fit fine with it moved 1 or 2 clicks up on the rails but I prefer it back as far as it goes

Think with your bar or a harddog that I'd be able to run the seat that far back?
