Default Need advise with lugnuts

For those of you who track their car and use aftermarket wheels, what are good type of lugnuts?

Just read a thread where a guy had 3 lugs come loose.

Any info would be greatly appreciated

I have the JDM wheels for autocrossing and just use the normal lugnuts. I'll get a new set when they get damaged. Other wheels will likely require specific lugnuts for the specific wheels - contact the distributor for more.

If a close examination doesn't show damage to the threads and seating area of both the wheel hub and bolt holes, I'd suggest that the wheel/nuts weren't properly seated and torqued. A little bit of non-parallel seating of the wheel to the hub would easily allow loosening.

The most important thing when it comes to lugnuts is to make sure they correctly seat in the wheel and that they are torqued to the proper specifications. The OEM wheels on the S2000 have spherical seats for the lug nuts whereas other wheels use conical seats. Correct torque on OEM lugnuts in the S2000 is about 76 lb-ft. This is much less than many repair facilities use in the pneumatic tools, so beware non-conscientious mechanics..

I've been using Kyokyugen lug nuts in the rear w/ no problems. In the front, I use Skunk 2 lugnuts, since I have extended studs.

Matt,

How come you don't use the Kevorkians in the front?

David,
I just picked up the lugs at the same time as the extended studs, since they're both Skunk2.

How big of a spacer do you run in the front?

The Spoon wheel is 35mm offset -- right?
