This deal is hard to beat! $49 for a helmet, then they give you a $30 gift certificate!

Note that this are Snell 95 "M" rated. You won't find a nomex "SA" rated helmet for his price, but should be fine for AutoX or open track days.

this seems like an excellent deal!

i am wondering does anybody have experience with these helmets?

and also, is there any track session or auto cross that won't accept 95 M rated helmet?

if all event will accept 95 M rated helmet, then why would we need the new SA rated? (just curious??)

thanks

All of the events I attend here in South Texas require at least a Snell 95 or newer helmet. "M" rated helmets are not allowed. This includes all of the autocross and track day events.

Schatten --

You may be right. I checked the BMW club site and it said "Snell 90 or newer" but I didn't check the Porsche club site. The Porsche club site says: "Snell 1990 or newer SA or M spec helmet".

And my KBC TK-8 helmet is Snell M2000 as shown below. I thought it just said "Snell 2000" and was rated for auto racing.

Description
The KBC TK-8 has a shell manufactured from advanced alloy resin technology. It comes with a polycarbonate moduled visor with exquick replacement mechanism. It also has a controllable twin air intake switches and rear exhaust outlet. It comes with a slider vent system to the mouth area for stale air removal control intake for improved visor demist. And has a fully washable, removable Duralux interior. The KBC TK-8 is approved to all highest standards Snell M2000, EC22/05 or BS6658 Type A ACU approved.

I stand corrected.

At the local autocrosses, we have a tech inspection for each car and they often ask about helmet ratings. There are always loner helmets for anyone who has an old helmet that doesn't meet the rating requirements.

Yeah, the local SCCA guys check helmets at the AutoX... I think Snell 90's still pass though.

Of course they only check your helmet if you have it in the car during tech inspection, kind of a loophole.

Deal on a helmet ?

I dunno how many heads you have, but last time I checked I had only the one attached to the rest of my body, no replacements or anything like that.

Say for an autox, I might be driving with something like that, but for open track days ???
Geeez, you live once, this is not the place to look for the el-cheapo solutions, GET A GOOD HELMET !
Racerswholesale sell G-force SA2000 for $149.00, not to mention that these will be legal for racing for longer time.

If we are gonna get picky on this.. what are the differences between the '95 and '00 spec, M and SA?
