Default Need rotors

Does any one have 04-05 rotors that they'd part with? I have the Cobalt pads on now and I don't want to disturb the nice transfer layer I have now when I go back to stock pads.

I kind of remember Richard (rlaifatt) was throwing away a lot of old rotors. Maybe you can get them, re-surface and re-use?

For those that track a few times a year, do you just swap pads back and forth on the same rotors, or do you have a separate set for race pads?

I did the swap pads on common rotors thing for a long time with no problems, but then I started having problems getting the pads to bed in properly. So now I'm trying the dedicated rotor/pad combination thing.

I dumped all the old rotors (at least those that were in obvious places).

robinson, I've always run the same rotors but just change pads, and no problems. I don't think the different pad materials on the rotor make much difference to the street pads, and if anything the street pads seem to bite stronger after switching back after a track event (I switch at the track). I would guess the race pads quickly remove and replace the softer street pad material on the rotors (if any is there) after a few hard brakings on the track. My guess also is that the race pad material stays on the rotor for a while as the street pads probably don't remove it easily, especially as the brakes rarely get very hot on the street (conjecture). However, if you do drive the car home with the race pads (which are then cold), the cold race pads will not only remove the race pad material but turn your rotors also.

I was doing the swap pad thing only, but I was always having issues with the brakes. Since going to dedicate pads and rotors, I haven't had a single problem.

Is there any reason to stay with OEM parts? What about something cheaper from autozone or the like?
