We'll see how this compares to the S2000! My hope is to eventually get it to the point where it handles (at least close to) as competently as the S2K, while having close to twice the power. It's going to take some doing though! Stock alignment maxes out at about 2° of front camber and 1.5 rear, and a 9" wheel is all you can fit in the front. Still, there's obviously potential!
Edit: Hmm, pics not showing up makes this thread a bit useless. Trying again...
Beautiful car! Love the GT4, and that color is perfect. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts after tracking it.
Got it out on the track this weekend. The car is totally stock aside from girodisc rotors the previous owner installed. It was on new Goodyear Supercar 3 tires, which are a reasonably sticky 220TW tire. It's got as much camber as you can with the stock parts (set by the previous owner, so I don't know exactly what it is, besides it being maxed out, but it'll be around 1.5° all around I expect. Definitely felt that lack of bite, especially in the front. I had the front bar set to medium and the rear to full stiff; will probably try one hole-side softer on the front next time. But it was reasonably neutral with this setup. Just overall didn't have the turning grip I'm used to with the S2k. And more than that, the predictability. It actually turned fairly well, but the tires are sliding and screaming the whole time, so it's hard to know when you're pushing it the optimal amount, especially during turn-in. So I am definitely going to want to do a few mods in order to get a proper track alignment, along with moving to 19" wheels and different tires.
Overall I'd have to say I would take a fully prepped S2k over a stock GT4 if I could only track one. But the GT4 is already so good that I expect once it's got a real alignment and maybe a set of headers and a tune, it'll be something else.
Here's a video I made of the day with back to back GT4 and S2k laps:
set of headers and a tune, it'll be something else.
I can tell you that the headers and tune make a very noticeable difference in sound and power delivery. Right off the bat you get a lot of the "detuned" power from the original motor (you still have the smaller throttle body and I think maybe plenum and runners), plus the power from the HFCs or cat delete depending on the header option you chose. It's very noticeable and really wakes the car up in the mid range.
