Fortunately (or more accurately... UNfortunately) there are a lot of crunched up S2000s out there. It's just a matter of finding ones that are crunched in deffierent places than the parts I need. It would have been way too expensive to do this with all brand new parts.
The rear suspension came from a car that was totaled in the front. The radiator and fender from people who upgraded, A bunch of other parts from a car that was totaled in the side... it's been a scavenger hunt
I just think this would be a really fun project to do, if you have the means to do so, good luck, I know your getting frustrated at times but I bet your enjoying the hell out of it for the most part, good luck with your decision to strip or restore.
you know if you keep this car to drive, or sell it for a profit you will not be able to find another nice cheap S2000...... strip it for racing.
My car was $9800 delivered...no sales tax since it has no title..... i think mechanically all i needed was a guage cluster, plug the power steering in and get one abs thing....about $500.00 total for all of that...... all the race stuff cost lots of $ though.
Actually, it's a bit closer to 14k now, but still a steal.
Black IS slower. This thing should be faster than my Spa by virtue of the Veilside. (The Spa has the same V2 intake, but the Fujitsubo is a more restrictive exhaust.) I'd swear the Spa feels much faster. (Not to mention how spoiled I'd gotten with the Cobalt brakes... the stockies don't stop nearly as fast!)
Book on this thing is now $23-27k, not including the chrome wheels, intake and exhaust! It's not quite as clean in person, but there's a 19 y/o in Irvine somewhere with $20k just waiting to plunk down on an obnoxiously loud Berlina S2k.
Spas are definitley the fastest, but Richard says they don't bounce very well.
