Default Ohlins for S2000!

Another possible shock option.

My July copy of SportsCar (SCCA) magazine had a small ad in the back (pg 80), implying that Ohlins now has an S2000 solution.

Looking at their web site, it appears they might be introducing an "after market" shock at a lower cost then their full race shock. I couldn't find any detals on adjustability, but it looks like a coil-over design.

Yes, I noticed that... with a stock spring perch thrown on there it could be a good A-Stock option, depending on valving and adjustability. The other question is can they do their full race shock now that they have the 'body' for the S2000. I'll give them a call and check out the details. Ohlins are good bits, but they are most likely valved for a compromise. We'll see!

Actually, this is not the lower-end, Japanese manufactured "street line" ohlins, but a full race shock. similar to their winston cup shock, with adjustable coil-over ride height, adjustable rebound damping, and fixed compression damping adjustable by replacing the base plate in the shock (requires shock removal).

Evidently it is highly tuned for the dynamics of the S2000.

List price, $895 each. (cough!)

Comptech now carries the OHLINS setup for the S2000. They are $725 per coil-over. :OUCH:

I am definitely going to check out the Ohlins suspension set-up for my S2K.

Several years ago, I invested (a lot of cash!) in a fully adjustable Ohlins racing suspension and steering damper for my bike (RZ). It is super plush, and infinitely tuneable.

Totally worth the inflated price!

Anyone knows if
1. Are the Ohlins absorbers adjustable in both compression & rebound? They seem to be adjustable only on rebound -- which could mean they may be too hard for the road. (my kidneys don't mind, but my chassis will)
2. They last a long time? I had used adjustable Konis for my Miata and after 75,000 miles (including 5 autocrosses - and I won in 2 :-)) they had at least 50% more life into them. Amazing (especially since the stock Miata items were dead after 25,000 miles).
3. Any cheaper alternatives? How about some progressive rate springs with adjustable shocks for that inflated price?!
