Default Oil Temp Sensor Install

Is the factory oil pan thick enough to drill/tap for an oil temp sensor, or do I need to weld on a bung?

Suggestions for locations? Pics?

I used the sandwich plate design for mine. Did oil temp and pressure off the sandwich plate.

I used a glowshift brand. No issues.

the place the oil will be hottest is in the oil pan, so thats where I measured temp. What I had done was timesert the drain plug to make it M12 iirc and use the sender as the drain plug. It does mean the hole for the oil to exit is smaller so it takes a little longer for the oil to drain out. but the most relevant oil temp is the temp of the oil in the pan.

You can buy sump plugs that accommodate an oil temp sensor.

This is the one I have been using-

hopefully that will save you some nasty tig welding on cast alloy.
