One Lap Of America S2000
Robert Thorn is running his championship winning SSM autox car in the OLOA race this year. He has been battling issues the entire event but keeps making laps.

Met him at a NASA NE event @ NJMP. Had issues with his car back then too. KISS is not his mottto.

We saw him this week at HPR in Colorado. He was fastest of all. A friend hand timed him on a flying lap at 1:51.x. That's insanely fast for a car that can still be driven on the street - albeit just barely.

Running the s2000 was the backup plan, from what I gathered, when his GTR busted. I think he had just a couple days to try to pull something out. I’m sure if the s2000 had been the initial plan it would have gotten some reliability mods. Make no mistake this guy is fast and knows how to build a car.

One of his competitors posted this on another forum.
”Robert didn’t walk the 1.3mi course this morning, and has never driven it. Take a look at the results and let that sink in.
Discovered the exhaust manifold was broken again between 1.3 and 1.7 so Robert took it very easy to get through the session without melting everything underhood, then drove straight to G-Speed (Louis Gigliotti’s shop at MSR).
Had to pull the exhaust manifold and turbo off Robert’s car between the morning and afternoon. I pulled everything while he slept, then woke him up so he could weld it up. Made a little reinforcement to hopefully keep it from happening again before one lap ends. Then him and I worked together to get it back together... done by 11:45, had time for lunch before the 3.1mi course. Again took it super easy to make sure he got through the session and wouldn’t have transit issues tonight since it’s another long one. He was all smiles after the session.”

Yea his s2000 is freaking crazy. He comes to our MSNE autoxs every other event now that he's moved.closer to NJ. Then I learned he races in pwc and stuff and I was like... Hmm makes sense he's insanely fast.
