In SCCA street prepared allows update/backdate is allowed, but Not in stock. Stock allows it only if the original part is superceded (no longer available) by the new part or if the new part is specified in a recall. The key word below in Racerx comment is is SPECIFIED. It means if the dealer looks in the parts book, the new part is the only one that is listed for the year in question..

Performance impact is an interesting issue for 2002 vs. earlier cars. If the new rear bar is softer, it may be good for street, but not for autocross, since we can balance with a stronger front bar.

Has anyone actually put a caliper on the bars and springs? I notice on official Honda web site that rear bar diameter has not changed for 2002, if that means anything.

For what it's worth... the Helm manual for 2000 - 2002 only lists one set of alignment specs.

OK, so now can you drill a hole in the bars to check wall thickness?

I note that a solid front bar of 26.1 mm has almost exactly the rate of the 00-01 hollow bar.

The .15 mm difference in the rear bars (.006 inches) could be paint and irregularity and is less than the variation noted in measurments. Is this really different?

Quote:
Measured the swaybars on my '02. I measured at several different points on each bar with a digital caliper and found varying results of +-.20mm. Measuring at the middle of the bars the front bar is 26.11mm or 1.048in and the rear bar is 27.35mm or 1.077in.

F: 28.2 mm (1.11") x 5.0 mm wall thickness
R: 27.2 mm (1.07") x 5.3 mm
