Default ProSolo Starts

I going to the ProSolo in Atlanta this April. I was wondering if anyone changes how they start in a ProSolo event compared to a normal Autocross style start. I typically "launch" between 6,000 and 6,500 rpm. Any info would be helpful.

Oh yeah...I am running Hoosiers

I'll be there too, so I can give you some on-site advice on launch technique. It really all depends on the surface, specifically the grip at the start. If you have the time, I highly recommend arriving early enough to do practice starts on Friday (3PM start, I think).

My technique is a clutch side step, between 6k and 8k, depending on the grip. I simultaneously side step and floor it. Sometimes this will immediately change over to throttle modulation if my timing was a bit off or if the grip level has changed. The ultimate goal is to get just enough wheel spin to sit just above the VTEC switch over and to not have the tires hook up and drag the engine down below that.

I hear that the site is hilly, so there is a possibility of a non-level start. In that case, add a simultaneous hand brake slam down to the aforementioned sequence. Again, a good reason to make it for Friday practice starts.

Steve

thanks for the input Steve. Your starts seems to be pretty consistent with mine, so I am feeling more confident. That will be one less thing to think about.

I have never drag raced before, so reacting to the tree will be new to me as well.
I am definetely going to take full advantage of the practice starts on Friday.

Thanks again, and I will look for you at the event.

Don't forget that you'll have to autocross after you launch...

I will make a mental note of that.
