Default racer wannabe

Ive never been to the track yet, but am looking to start next spring. Im not looking to race, just have fun with the car. What should I do to prepare and are there any resources out there to learn more? I already plan on taking a short course at the local track, but what else can I do to make sure I dont look like a fool or break stuff (me or the car). Any help would be great.

I would get an idea of what the limitations of your car are. At the track, start slow and work your way faster. It is more emarrasing to wipe out every corner cause your being to aggressive then to be a bit slower then everyone else.

for the noobie (like myself) the S2000 is more then enough car to get you in touble!!
I would just leave her the way she is for your first track day. After that you will probably realize the stock fluid and pads are not up to the task over a long period of time. If you have to do one thing before going to the track I would say pick up some good dot 4 fluid (super blue ate or motul) and get some decent brake pads, Panther P+, hawk, etc.

Don't go near the track without upgraded fluid and pads, you'll just tear up your stock pads.

Mine didn't even last a full day my first time out.

You might want to get brake ducting if you plan on doing this with any degree of frequency.
