Default Rain / Race tires

I'm considering buying some rain tires for my stock 16" rims that'll hold up on the track. Any recommendations or should I just run unshaved RAs?

RA1s will be superior to the Sumitomos but more expensive of course.

yeah I use a set of unshaved RA1's, they'll be way faster than a street tire in the rain.

Hooiser makes a rain tire that will fit stock AP1 rims and should be faster than the RA1 too.

Little out of topic here but I drove a freshly shaved RA1s on a wet track. It took time to heat them but they had decent amount of grip. Ofcourse there were no standing water and the wiper was operating at the lowest setting.

I didn't hydroplane but it did step out couple of times out of the corner. I just waited till the car was pointed straight and accelerated out of the corner. It was a fun experience.

the Sumitomo is the HRZ II. the HRZ is an all season tire with less grip

Hmm, the one that was used in OTC was the HTR Z. It has a much lower tread wear rating than the HTR ZII. HTR ZII looks like a tuner tire.

Neither one is an all season tire.
