Default recommend me OBDii reader

i have Scangauge II and it's OK but it works much better with MX5 than with S2k.

i want a better reader with more features, more parameters to display and prefferably with allerts.

i've tried friend's Auterra - and it's nice: it allows to monitor up to 4 parametrs on one screen (in big font or 6 in small fonts), has allerts and datalogging.

but it's bulky and wires comming from the bottom and left makes it very hard to mount cleanly.
it's also not intuitive to operate.

all those big LCD based devices (Zeitronix dash daq xl etc) are not for me:
1. they're 500$ and up
2. it's too dangerours to leave them in the car - the thieve will think it's GPS and slash the soft top to get it
3. they're very hard to read during sunny day with top folded down

i saw "Tunerview" LCD which looks very good - but it doesn't work with OBDii.

PLX is expensive and not easy to mount cleanly.

greddy infotouch looks like a nice toy.

so what would you use/recommend?

This is neat. So is this just as good as the older style plug in readers?

Also what options do we get for our s2000's? What system monitors can we read with this?

So get a smart phone, android, either upgrade or just buy one and use torque. But keep in mind torque may not work with some cheap chinese eBay bluetooth adaptors. So as not to hassle with that, I just bought the PLX one for $70.

The whole this is awesome.

i didn't want to go this way - but now i'm leaning more towards it.

so Android phone + torque app?
can Torque be set up to show allerts? (above/below values that user define)

If you want a dedicated display, you don't need to use a cell phone. You should be able to run Torque on other Bluetooth equiped Android devices like the Viewsonic VPAD7.

You'd probably have to come up with your own means of attachment, but, I don't think it would be hard to attach one to a Modifry Bracket or you could use a Honda S2000 OEM JDM Navigation Bezel with the right sized Anroid Tablet.

yea, i thought about using tablet.
but it looks to me all those 7" (or more) devices will look way too big in crumped S2000 cockpit.
so either i find smaller tablet or go for the phone.

what about alerts?
can Torque do them?

txh!!!

Looks like Torque is only for Android.

Anybody know of a good Bluetooth compatible iPhone app? Rev looks good but it's WiFi only ($150+ for the hardware).
