Default Reg syn vs extd'd perf syn - track use

Hi,

Is there any benefits of reg synthetic oil vs extended performance oil for track day use? It is only going to cost ~$5 more and OCI will be 3-4K miles.

I'm looking at Castrol Edge 5W-30 on an AP1 w/oil cooler.

Thanks

On my car I have a MrSideWays radiator and Setrab Oil cooler. Water temps never seem to get above 200F, oil temps are 230-240F on track as measured on the inlet to the oil cooler. Car sees mixed use from street, to autox, to track work.

I currently run Mobile1 Extended Performance. My last Blackstone report came back perfect after 3 track days, a few autocrosses, and ~2k street miles.
My gut feeling is that with the oil cooler, any off the shelf syn will hold up pretty well to track use as the temps are brought way down, resulting in significantly less sheer.

i would run the cheaper and change more often. i have had really good luck with penzzoil platinum. i had really bad oil burning issues with my yellow s2000 and switching oils fixed it for me. right now pennzoil has a 10 dollar rebate on 4 gallon jugs. worth a look

I run Castrol Edge and never have an issue. Change it every 6 months which is usually 3-6 weekends with minimal street driving. Blackstone always came back good when I'd send one in.
