Thanks for all the support, guys! Things went very well today. We ran on the ProSolo practice course which was very small because of the evolution school on part of the site. It was a slower, tigher course than yesterday, which kept us out of VTEC. Times? Jason=22.0/22.2 Brad=22.2/22.2 Juliann=23.6/23.9 Also, Danny(BoxterS)=21.9/22.0 and Jonathan(Mr2)=21.9/22.1 Times are Left/Right course ...Both Brad and I were .2 seconds off Danny Sheilds(many-time champion) in an SS Boxster-S... Jonathan Roberts got ahead of us by a couple tenths in his CS Mr2, but only on one run - and boy can that thing LAUNCH!
Speaking of launches, 7k was the magic number with the Hoosiers on concrete. Plenty of wheelspin... .78g of acceleration force recorded by our GEEZ. Also, we were getting 1.3g in each direction turning, and 1.25 peaks for braking!!! Through the sweeper/turnaround we could sustain 1.2g for over 3 seconds. Amazing grip!
As for balance, Gregg... it's very balanced. I can't say that it understeers, and I can't say it oversteers. It does both, but it's very controllable. It certainly oversteers more than under, but you can keep your foot in the gas and correct with the wheel. The tail always gets back in line. Tire wear has been phenomenal. We have 68 runs now on the practice tires, and the wear is around 50%. Of course, the rears got more wear today. About 30 ProSolo starts on concrete finally wore down the inside rears about 75%. So we got them flipped on the rims and could do 30 more runs. Our conservative estimates are that we'll get over 90 runs per set of Hoosiers, and we're pretty happy with that. Tire temps were pretty even with 1.5 camber in the front and 2.5 in the rear. We're thinking of bringing the front up to 2.0, as we're not really using the inside of the front tires at all.
As for not needing shocks, they are definitely only a small percentage of setting this car up. We need them, because of the level we're running at, but the front bar is 90% of the setup of this car. Sam Strano took a run, and felt it could do fine on the stock shocks. I'm kinda glad that the shocks weren't ready for this event, because now we'll get to really see what effect they had.
Tomorrow is practice starts, and it will be interesting to see what kind of 60' times we can get. I'll post how it goes. Saturday the real show begins!

keep us posted on your antics, guys!
also, we didn't typically have any clutch problems until pm Saturday runs and even am Sunday, when it got hot and there was quite a bit of rubber laid down from a day's worth of launches - keep an eye out for it.
it seemed that once the clutch started spinning, we never had the time to let the car cool down enough to get it to stop... so with 3 drivers be careful!!! (ask everyone near the start line from Lemoore last year - spin spin spin city for the clutch!)

Looks like 7k wasn't the magic number for launches... It was fun, that's for sure. But it resulted in 2.7 60' times. At 5k with less throttle after the clutch dump, it launched much better. We were able to get down to 2.4 60' times. Pretty reasonable because Rob Faulkner in the BoxsterS was turning 2.4/2.5 seconds, and all the Z06's were around 2.8 seconds. Those darn Mr2 Spiders with 2200lb and mid-engine were turning 2.1's. Sheesh!
Anyhow, all the bargaining that Brad did all afternoon paid off as G.H. decided to let Paul Zarnhorsky codrive his Boxster, making it 5 A-Stockers for a full class. We won't be eligible for contingency, but at least we won't have to be with the Vette's.
So we're all rested and ready to go. It should be interesting. Keep your eye on http://www.scca.org/amateur/solo2/prosolo/...yers/index.html for results. They usually post them at the end of day one.
HERE GOES NOTHING!
