I need to get some upper spring perches ordered that will work with these so I can play around a bit

Right now I'm having a little trouble finding a really flat perch for 60mm spring that's meant for a 10mm pin.

Looks like you got the linear stiff shock ones, I got the progressive soft shock ones with my spherical race top mounts, which were red. Mine are 54mm long.

Do you know if 2.5" springs will work with the stock spring seat/perch up front, is the perch 'flat' enough?

I'm not sure what size the OEM springs are. The OEM upper perch part is definitely pretty darn flat if not completely flat.

So far this is the closest thing I've found to what I need and they are relatively flat which I like. I need to call and find out what the ID is of the center. It appears to be small (guessing either 10mm or 12mm) Keeping my fingers crossed for 10mm. They I'll just need to mill down the lower boss on the GC tops and have at it.

Good find but my guess on those is 14mm

BTW I had the hardest time finding 10X60mm spring perches

So where did you find them? I can actually get the ones that come with the AST top hats but they are so much taller and I'd really like to find ones that are really flat like in the link I posted. I'll probably give Turner a call tomorrow and find out just what those are.

The more I look at the tops the more I think I really might end up running them like the OEM tops and sacrificing the full articulation. I think getting the absolute max travel out of them is going to be worth more than having complete articulation.

From what I can tell if you can make custom spherical tops by modifying the OEM tops it looks like you can actually gain a little bit of travel. I'd venture to say almost a 1/2". What I like about the OEM style top setup is the spring is held in place from the outside which means no boss in the middle taking up the space that the shock body could use.

I'd really like to get at least a pair of the 60mm upper perches so that I can have a few options to play around with. I don't mind throwing away a little bit for the sake of testing but some of the perches I've found are really expensive.

From the looks of them if you're running an upper perch for full articulation you actually likely end up with less travel than using the OEM tops? or is it just deceiving by looks? I'll take full articulation and no travel gain over the OEM setup I just don't want to lose travel.

I really don't know but I'm guessing it has something to do with spring rate and available travel.
There might be other things that are important but I can't think of anything else.
My stops are just to prevent either coil bind or the tire from hitting the chassis.

Using an upper perch will always reduce travel, I can't think of any way it wouldn't.

With solid tops like those GC ones do you think you can put the spring right up against the top without any problems? and in order to keep the spring centered how little of a lip do you think there needs to be? I know for a fact that lower boss can be milled a little bit but I'm wondering just how much.
