Default roll bar install question

I'm in the process of installing my roll bar. I have a question for those that have installed one. Most of the base plates are not sitting flush against the floor. Many of the bolt holes are floating up to 4mm from the floor of the car. Is this normal or should all the plates be sitting perfectly flush to the floor? See example pic:

i would say that is fairly normal. the plates should easily mount flush as you tighten them down.

Once you tighten it it will be fine. Make sure you check I there is any bumps or things under the base. If so grind it down a bit

Like postman said, just tighten them down and it'll be fine.

Thanks guys, got the bar finished up last night. Pretty happy with the the RSG bar.

FYI: The RockStar Garage double D weighs 40lbs (not including the backing plates, forgot to weigh them). The harness bar weighs 12lbs.

All the stuff I removed weighed 50lbs: roll hoops, bulkhead, glove box, all rear plastics. So the thing is almost a wash weight wise.

I used a different method that most for filling the holes in the wheel well. I didn't like the idea of filling the thing with foam. What I did was cut a piece of sheet metal (aluminum) about 1" x 6" (just bigger than the hole). And curved it to fit the hole and go around the bolts and whatnot. Then used a few sheet metal screws to secure it and slathered it with roofing tar (only thing I could think of that I had on hand). Making sure to get all the edges sealed good. I will post a pic later if I remember.

The sheet metal roofing tar method looks to be solid. The roof tar dried to form a nice seal. I would definitely recommend this method. The aluminum was very pliable and easy to work with. The biggest benefit I see to this method is that it is easily reversable if you ever needed to remove the backing plates.

Nice! I wanted to do this for my install, instead of the foam method etc.. but i was in a rush to get ready for an event and didn't have time to fabricate a new approach. Glad it worked out.

Very nice. I got the single diagonal waiting to go in in a couple weeks. I weighed the bulk head bar at the same and backing plates and bolts at 5.5lbs. I haven't weighed the actual bar though.
