Roll bar without the harness bar

Not to be argumentive, but this is not true. You do make a valid point though: in the event of a collision, you run the risk of hitting your fragile skull on the roll bar. Not good. However, harness or not the neck still has a free range of movement. A harness will not significantly affect that... hence the creation of the hans device. Furthermore, wearing a harness significantly limits the drivers ability to move to view blind spots, is uncomfortable, requires a proper seat, etc. The stock seat belts are your best bet for street use... roll bar or not.
I do agree that the factory roll protection is sufficient for street use.

i run 6 pt harness for daily drive and it's a b-tch!
The issue is that rollover accidents are very rare. "Normal" collision accidents are much more common. The roll bar ends up being a big chunk of metal right next to your head. It probably does add a further margin of safety in a rollover accident, even though the car is actually pretty safe in rollover. But what you gain in roll protection is probably not as big as what you lose by adding another thing for your head to smash into.
This equation changes if you are using race seats and harnesses, because those will hold you in place during a rollover. That means you need the extra roll protection.
So if you plan to not install harnesses and race seats, I suggest not installing a bar at all.

The rollbar is behind the back of the seat.
I dont doubt the body will move pretty far in a collision, but arnt the stock hoops behind the seat as well?
Edit :
I just took a look at some photos. I understand your point. I just got the hard dog bar today and have not installed it yet. Is the padding useless for head protection?

The padding is useless for a bare head yes, but (and please correct me if I'm wrong) how would your head hit the roll bar in a frontal/rear/side impact unless your really tall? For me, at 5'9", I don't see it happening. If you had a full cage, well that's just a death trap without a seat/harness/helmet lol
