Don't separate the hoop halves. They are made of polypropylene and it's very hard to get them to join again.
Honda attaches the two halves by hot bonding using a wire in that joint and giving it enough current to melt the two halves together. They didn't use glue.
Trim the plastic with a dremel and a small cutoff wheel, and cover the sloppy exposed cut edges with some flexible black door edge guard.

Hi, I split one of my rollbar covers whilst fitting a new roof (before reading this thread), but am not that keen to use superglue due to it leaving white mark when it dries.
The glue used by Honda almost appears to be meant to be dissabled - anyone got a good suggestion for a glue that woudl be similar to this that is strong enough?
