Default rollbar questions

Did a search and really could not find concise information.....

Solo I requires a rollbar that extends 2" above the driver's helmet.....correct?
Solo II does not, and governs most AutoXs.

what roll bars are you using and why? does the top clear the rollbar and how much of a modification is the install?

sorry if this turns out to be a redundant thread and .....

I can't RTFM because it is not in it

Besides custom built rollbars the two below are probably the two most popular. Note that the Elda engineering bar was built to meet SCCA specs while the Bitterman rollbar was built to maximize the height of the rollbar. I think the Bitterman rollbar is still available; maybe Aaron or Krazik can confirm.

I use the Elda bar for Solo2 and I'm absolutely thrilled with it. It is the maximum possible height to clear the top. It's SCCA legal (or so they tell me). Comes with a harness bar (what's the point of a rollbar with no harness??). Cost is reasonable as long as you don't have comptech(jerks) do the install

I just put my used Bitterman Rollbar up for sale for $450 ($150 less than new) - here's a link to the thread.

Yes, you can install it yourself - I did! It is a tedious job, but something that you can do if you have decent mechanical skills and can follow the directions in the Helm manual for interior removal. It took me a total of about 7 hours to do the job working by myself with hand tools, except for about 15 minutes when I needed an assistant to help me lift the bar into the car.
