S02 tire pressure street/autocross/track
I've done a few autocross and trackdays I have come to the conclusion that s02's work best for me around 36/37PSI front hot and 35/36 rear hot.
It seems to me the conventional wisdom of just adding more pressure for track/autocross is not good advice because they get hotter on the track/autocross.
Using the stock 32PSI cold after a run on the motorway I took the hot pressures and it works out about 35/36psi. Anything less at least in the front the car feels a bit floaty to me.
For autocross I put a few extra PSI extra in the fronts. By the 4th run when the tires have warmed up they seem to go a bit mushy and I find bleeding them down to around 36 front 35 rear gives me more grip. So I am pretty much finding about 32/31psi cold equivilant works best for me there.
On the track the other day I started off at 32psi cold after a few laps though things felt a bit slippy/squirmy. I thought I needed more pressure so for my second run I added a few psi. I did 1 1/2 warmup laps then went hard and span. The tires were giving off a lot of heat so I took the pressure and they were 38-39 psi on the front 37+ rear I think.
So I bled them down to 37/36 front/rear and my next time out was better with no mushiness and more grip I thought. I took an extra PSI out for the last lap and the car felt better all round and I was flying + I managed to counter steer my way out of a spin.
So my cold pressure must have been around 30-31PSI and driving home on the freeway over about 80mph the front felt floaty. I took the pressures and they were low > 33/34. I put them back up to 35warm and the car felt much better.
I was interested what do the more experienced track/autocross guys think of this?

36f/34r has always seemed to be the overall average for S02s on stock wheels for autocross so you're right in there. Might be better to start off with them set that way cold (or just before your first run) and bleed down as needed.
