Default S2000 in the rear?

I'm not sure where to post this so I'll start here, feel free to move it where ever it fits the best. I choose here because I am sure whoever does it is about racing.

Has anyone sucessfully placed the S2000 motor on a FWD tranny? Preferably in a longitudinal positions.

I have a wild hair, an extra motor and am looking to build a car with the 2.2 engine behind my head for the track.

Or some transverse engine, anyway.

Not interested in a K series, I am interested in a longitudinal mount in the rear.

I HAVE an extra S engine, I don't have a K series. Yes, I know there is the cost of the adapters, but I also don't want a transverse mount. That puts too much weight too far back.

You want to mid mount an F20 in what car? What transaxle do you plan on mating to the motor? Anything is possible....

That's what I am trying to figure out. If I can find a good longitudinal mount FWD tranny it will be a lot cheaper than a specialized transaxle ala the Sports Racers.

A while back I looked into a Porsche transaxle and was thinking front engine/rear tranny, but they got pricey real quickly, but more importantly the ratios were way off. You'd have dropped out of VTEC between shifts.

As to the car, well I am headed off to England in the morning to finalize a deal to buy the rights to a mid engined kit car company.

I'll let you know the car when I get back. I've already had one deal on another well known kit car company blow up literally in the final seconds.

For the moment let's just say it will be roughly a Miata wheelbase 36" tall and weigh in at 1200 or so pounds.

So basically what I am saying is that this will not be a one off creation just for my own personal fun.

The Audi/VW transaxles are extremely heavy but may end up being my only choice. I was hoping someone else had already done this somewhere or had some car knowledge that I didn't.

Sorry about the K2x I misunderstood. There is a company that makes a F20C based formula car. you should see what gear box they're using.

I think stocky posted about it.

Yeah, even boxters use a passat tranny , heavy is right. Hmm

Perhaps an old 6spd legend?? I think they were FF longitudinal...
