For those of you who have removed the interior carpet, what have you done for grip down in the foot wells?

I imagine your feet would slide around a bit on the bare metal.

I haven't added anything and don't mind it at all. It's definitely a preference thing. Skateboard tape sounds like a good idea though.

Bare metal is fine if dry, but it gets really slippery when wet (unlike you California types, in the Northwest we actually get rained on once and a while ). That's when grip tape comes in handy.

Bringing this thread back, great topic!

Looking to loose some weight on the S in the next few months. Would love to have dropped some weight by the time i pay it off.

Looking to track it too.

I don't know if it is mentioned earlier in this thread, but I figured I'd let you know that the K&N intake weighs in at ~ 6.5lbs, this including the shield, brackets, hardware, and filter...so its only about a 3.5lb saving not 8.5

Taking out the softtop motors barely saves any weight as they weigh 2lbs 10oz each...so just a little over 5.5lbs

I did just remove my softtop and its weight was 56lbs (frame, vinyl, and glass). The metal pieces that bolt along the bottom edge to secure the vinyl were another 4-5 lbs...and then of course the motors...so all in all about 66lbs off the car from taking out the soft top...remove the rear plastic tray the top sits in and thats another 4lbs out. For autocross days you can run without the soft or hardtop on and compared to having both thats over 100lbs!

The spare tire is ~28lbs, all the trunk carpeting is a little over 9lbs, and the tools are nearly 5 lbs...so unless you scraped off the tar in the trunk thats a 42lb loss.

I've been weighing items with my postal scale (.2oz accuracy) and can post pictures if you guys would like. Just not of the softtop, its all bagged and stored

My car got weighed at a NASA TT event with me in it and a 1/2 tank of gas. 2925 lbs. I run TTD and SpeedVentures S2K Challenge Stock class. Base weight for TTD is 2850 with driver, so I can't go below that. the 1/2 tank of gas weighs about 39 lbs., so if I came in after a TT comeptition running on fumes, the car with driver would be 2886 lbs., or 36 lbs. over. I have the rear bulkhead and trim removed as a necessity for adding the 4-point rollbar, and I removed the passenger seat and rails (I think that's more like 23 lbs., not 33 lbs. as the OP said). I can't take anymore trim out of it without running afoul of the Stock class rules. If I add a lighter exhaust, I can still run Stock Class but will get bumped out of TTD. Oy vey. I need to find a 0.25 point mod for Stock Class that is free for TTD.

When I build the car into a Modified Class car next year for the S2K Challenge, I plan to go wild on weight reduction, and then I will just get reclassed to TTC or higher with NASA.

Of course, I'm kinda fat. If I go on a diet and excercise plan (Nnnoooo!!) I could lose 20 lbs.
