S2KI Racing School ??
This would be great. I'm not sure about my finances right now, but if I get my 6 month contract signed, I'm in for this.
I take it that we don't use our own cars. Do we get to drive them on the track later???

I've heard nothing but RAVE reviews about DDA. It's been at the top of my list of preferred racing schools for a few years now. True, Skip Barber and Jim Russell get the great tracks (Laguna and Sears resp.), but the DDA cars and program content/structure are really appealing. Plus, as C3 notes, Vegas is dirt cheap.
They have 3-day schools scheduled Wed-Fri Nov 20-22 (week BEFORE Thanksgiving), and Mon-Wed Dec 2-4. Any interest in these dates?

I've been to the DDA in Vegas
Pros:
The instructors seemed really cool, and helpful.
The cars are really cool (although the wings are apparantly set up for little downforce at the speeds you go).
Vegas is cheap.
Cons:
The track is not the Speedway track (with the midfield section) but a specially designed track used by DDA. It's really great to say you've raced a open wheeler at Laguna!
Vegas is a bit tacky (for my taste).

Hi,
I would love to do this, but being that I just put a hefty downpayment on the S, I don't think I will have the funds for it.
I would like to say that I have done the 4-day formula school at DDA. It was the most awesome and rewarding experience. I learned so much through the on-board data aquisition gear. If I were to go again I think I would skip the Z3's as they were used mostly for defensive driving techniques and didn't really compare to the formulas. If this event is scheduled for next year I would do it in a minute.
Cthree, I know that in addition to group discounts, DDA also has summer price discounts if you run in August. I went last year in August and got 10% discount. The temps were around 110 on the track but it didn't feel so bad when you were moving.
I will say that if we could get them to allow our cars on the track I would definitely be interested in making the trip!

Just to clarify a couple of things:
First this would be an exclusive class, we would be the only people there. As such we can tailor the program to meet whatever needs we have. My personal preference is to learn how to go fast on the track, I could care less about skid control and so forth. My car control skills are adequite.
We would be driving their open wheel formula cars not our own. You can fly in from anywhere really cheaply and get a good hotel room for dirt. Food and drinks are also really cheap. A mid-ohio or Laguna location would require a rental car and more expensive travel and accommodation. I'm not rolling in dough and would like to set this up for maximum value; money spent not learning how to drive fast is wasted IMHO. Skip barber would add another $1000 to the price which is too rich for me.
For travel to/from the school we could rent a van and vanpool to keep the cost down. Split 10 ways it would be like $10 each. I would like to keep the price down to less than $3000pp all up, I don't think we can do that anywhere else.
November or December is not a problem for me (I need to raise the cash too). Mon-Thurs is when the flights run so a Tues-Wend-Thurs is the best days to work it. It means a week off work but what could be a better way to spend it?
A November date gives us 5 months to drum up the $ which works out to $600/mo which isn't insignificant but might be doable for at least 10 of us. If it works out well we can do it again next year, maybe in the summer to lower the rates even more.
I know I want to do this and doing it as a group is the cheapest way to go (not to mention we can customize the program). So let's keep this going and get serious about going. As soon as we can get 10 commitments it's on (9 actually).

I'm into it.
I wonder if we can get the s2000 challenge regulars there. It would be fun to see how we all do leveling the playing field.
Hayashi?
Jzr?
Strike?
Josh?
Davepk?
TwoHoos?
SphinkterMC?
anyone else?
