Default Safety strap for camera mount

I've started using a video camera mount that replaces my windscreen for SCCA autocross events. The SCCA requires a safety strap. I'm curious as to what others have done. I'd like something simple to use that can be quickly installed and removed.

I used my camcorder nylon shoulder strap. One of the anchor points for it it part of the camera's frame. Shoulder strap thru anchor point thru stock roll hoop plus tie & duct tape the ends of strap together. This was fine for NASA South which also requires straps.

Where does it say you need a safety strap for a camera for Solo? I'm not aware of any such rule.

I don't remember it being required for Solo either. The tech inspectors at the last event said it was. Guess I'll have to look into the rules.

I would look into the rules. I jsut have mine mounted in place of the windscreen, just one screw up through the hole and then screw on the monopod mount. All I have heard is that it has to be permanently mounted to the car some how.

I found a nylon web strap with a buckle for $1. I looped it through the camera mount, over the camera and through the camera strap. I think that should make them happy. It's still fairly easy to take the camera on and off with this setup, so I'll be happy with it too.
