SLICKS in the S2000 Challenge???
How about making a Production-S class for the rich cheating bastards who can afford slicks
PLL, we don't want more than 4 classes. we just cut it down from 5 to make it more competitive.
We still near to hear from Doug and other people before we can vote on this. This is a lynching.

I would put the minimal benifit of slicks at around 2 seconds. For me it was more like 4+ secs at Sears Point which jibes with what i was told to expect for longer tracks. I think its important to realize that the benifit is probably bigger than whats been suggested tho it is hard to argue with the likes of James Gunn & Gary Thomason.

I would like to add something here... Hayashi are ya listening... Slicks on stock suspension is a BAD IDEA. The stock suspension is pretty much overpowered by the R-compound tires, it would pretty much melt with slicks.
You would greatly increase your chances of flipping the car, and make the car very hard to drive. Davepk is finding out that he needs to run even higher spring rates than the 4-500lb springs he has now to keep up with the grip of the slicks... on stock suspension it would be tantamount to a suicide attempt.
Slicks should be outlawed in everything but unlimited. Period. I even think they should be outlawed there... but that's just me. While it's cool to see just how fast an S2000 can go, as Dave is working on proving, it's equally as cool to have more lightly modified cars (as our King car was at Laguna) compete for FTD.
I'm guessing slicks will stay in unlimited, but they should be summarily outlawed in anything else.

[B]OK, i found out through sources that Hayashi is planning on running slicks in the PRODUCTION class.
As the moderator of the classing for this challenge series I didn't know slicks were 2 seconds faster than Hoosiers.

Everyone is scrambling to counter the "Slick" move. heh heh heh.
Let's keep all the krazy stuff for the unlimited class, guys. Slicks and motorized ground effects should not be legal in anything except unlimited.
I would even propose everyone run the same tire. IE stock = S02, Mod=RA1 and Prod=Hoosiers etc.
We could even get a gb going on tires, that way everybody gets same tires and we eliminate a huge variable.
