It's all about 'The Hayashi Rule.'

Seriously, though... Krazik has it right - slicks aren't for newbies, so it's probably best to ban them in anything but unlimited. Doug, you know you are going to break down and make the S2000 a fire-breathing supecharged coilovered aero'd beast in a fit of compulsion... then you can run your slicks and not get a rule named after you!

4. 17/17 inch rim combos are tough also, as Yokohama only brings in one size of 17 inchers. Which sucks, as I was trying to figure out how to put four NSX front rims on the S2000 with different size 17 inch slicks (I was advised that using the same size 17's all the way around would make the car way too loose in the rear). Even if this did work, remember the front and rear hubs have different size "hub holes?" or whatever they are called, which screwed up the four NSX front rims plan.

Dave found Dunlop slicks that fit the 17" CE28Ns that are on many S2000s (mine included ). Maybe you could rent/buy/borrow a set of CE28Ns

I agree that slicks should be allowed until they are proven to be faster.
As for newbies running and knowing or not knowing what they're doing, we all sign the waiver when we come in to the track.

Good point. If allowed in Production, it should be hard compound only. Imagine the laptimes on soft compound in unlimited (all 4 laps you'd get in on them)
