SLICKS in the S2000 Challenge???
Sweet... I've been waiting to use this!!!!
I think I just got flamed. And Sphinkter - you forgot to use this one:
My post above was made for that smiley. Good thing it was only my opinion and nothing more. When you beat me at Laguna, I'll be the first to congratulate you - not smack you down like you seem to love to do to me.

Yeah, Wow is right... I just reread Sphyncter's message and I'm not quite sure what I did to deserve that personal attack. If you disagree with what I say that's one thing, but that was downright vicious.
I'd love to hear how a "stockish", well driven S2000 with slicks does against heavily modified foe.
And I like Doug's philosophy of building it fast without spending tons and potentially outperforming big buck preperations.
But it seems like adding at least some GC coil-overs, stock shocks, stiffer eibach springs and lowering a 1/2" or so would be another $400 very well spent.

that was just talk for the show.....the speed crack made me do it.
Hopefully, i'll be running more than my mouth off at LS. Jason (Saini) has set a great time at LS, and that's what you get with an accomplished driver in a capable car. It is not a given to beat at all, as i have previously posted. Unfortunately, he won't be there to raise the bar himself.......so others must carry the torch for him. Onward, to the hills......my Chariot await!!!now where are those Lions???
For reference 1:44 is mid - pack in Skip Barber race series car around LS, but you still are getting into the points!!!
gotta go and fix my mangled S2000(wound hasn't slowed it down)

and right front corner wiring harness( i still saw that dead cow in the #1 lane of the I-5S sans passenger side HID illumination)
any production guy who buys slicks: i'll buy 'em off you if grandma Bitterman and Auntie Wurth won't let you go out and play.

sfphinktersayswhat? Don't let it get to you Jason - if anything, feel proud that you're being picked on by someone who knew how to use the word disingenuous.
My stock springs must be sagging or something. I predict an ESP-style protest if I ever do well @Nats. New alignment for Laguna:
Front
0 toe
LF -1.75 camber, 4.5 caster
RF -2.0 camber, 5 caster
Rear
1/4" toe-in
LR -2.75 camber
RR -3.25 camber
I had the tech quadruple-check the right rear, and had him leave it as it was. The rear alignment hasn't been touched since it was set to -2.5 on both sides many moons ago. The car is going to rock turning left!
60,000 mile service performed at dealer - valve adjustment revealed loose intake valves, tight exhaust valves. New air filter, spark plugs, wiper blades. Car feels peppier than ever. Remaining material found on original OEM brake pads: 65% front, 80% rear.
New 225/245-16 Hoosier A3S03 from Tire Rack shipped to the Big O Tires near Thunderhill I once used, not the Big O Tires used frequently in San Diego. New Hoosiers on their way; to be mounted on wheels I still haven't bought from MIA seller.
Parts needed for front wing arrived yesterday, way too late to implement. They lie there, taunting me. Rear wing to be scaled back to retain some semblance of balance.
Tomorrow is brake overhaul day, including brake duct install. Obtained bottle of Wilwood EXP, and new PFC 97 pads should be here today. Caliper rebuild, fluid flush, dust shield removal, and underbody air deflectors for rears.
On Sunday, wash, wax, and detail car. Finish wiring for rear wing. Maybe watch some football.
Monday and Tuesday night(s) finish assembling and install rear wing with parts due to arrive in umpteenth shipment from mcmaster-carr. Drive to LA to pick up wheels. Wednesday work half day, get tires mounted, make 500 mile drive to Monterey in time for a good night's sleep.
Thursday and Friday, kick all yer asses. I don't expect to touch Kennedy's times (and neither should anyone else not running slicks); the goal is to see how close one can get to Saini's times in a less prepared car. And not eat it into a wall while trying...
